StrongLifts 5x5

StrongLifts 5x5 is a beginner strength program popularized by Mehdi Hadim. It is famous for its app and its incredibly simple structure.

The Methodology

Similar to Starting Strength, it uses a 3-day split with two alternating workouts.

The Routine

  • Workout A: Squat, Bench Press, Barbell Row
  • Workout B: Squat, Overhead Press, Deadlift

5x5

The key difference is the volume: you do 5 sets of 5 reps for all lifts except Deadlift (1x5). This extra volume is great for practice and hypertrophy in the early stages.

It is one of the most accessible ways to start lifting weights and has a massive community of followers.
